NCC CELEBRATES INCLUSION!
NCC’s 3rd Anniversary of Becoming Open and Affirming
and United Church of Christ’s 25th Open and Affirming Anniversary
Neighborhood Congregational Church, a United Church of Christ (UCC), celebrated the 3rd anniversary of NCC’s becoming Open and Affirming, as well as the 25th anniversary of the UCC’s Open and Affirming movement on Sunday, June 7, with special worship festivities, guest speakers, lunch, and an open forum conversation following lunch. The Open and Affirming Movement is an official church position that openly welcomes and includes persons, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, marital status, age, mental and physical ability, race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background, into the full life and ministry of the church. At Neighborhood Congregational Church, a United Church of Christ, Proposition 8 does not rule supreme. Couples who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual can still celebrate holy unions in a sacred ceremony. All persons called by God are welcome to serve as ordained ministers. Leaders, worshippers, and ministry volunteers come from all walks of life and are fully included in the church community. The Open and Affirming Movement celebrates and advocates for this type of diversity and inclusion across the world’s churches. All are always invited to join us in worship at Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive, Laguna Beach, CA 92651. For more information, call 494-8061.
