Celebrating Christmas Love
An inspiring and joy-filled service of worship on December 20 helped us to prepare for a meaningful Christmas. Singing and listening to familiar and inspiring music, gathering with new friends and old, and listening to the age-old story of Mary preparing for Jesus’ birth wove us into a group of travelers, ready to journey toward Christmas. The choir and bell choir’s lovely rendition of “Peace, Peace” focused our morning. You could almost hear the corporate “aah” as the song ended and we felt the breath of God’s spirit calming our harried minds. Rev. B. J. and the liturgical dancers told the story of the love of Mary and Elizabeth for one another in a mysterious and meaningful way. Alexa Wildish, a new soloist to our congregation, practically sang the rafters off with her amazing song challenging all of us to look at Mary as a role model for bearing the Christ child in our own lives. Celebrating Mary’s and Elizabeth’s love for one another and their love for the babies that would soon be born into their lives helped all of us to consider “leaping for joy” at our own steps of faith on this journey with God. Remembering the love of God for all of creation and Jesus’ love for us encouraged us to celebrate and live our love for God and one another! The amazing music, the pews filled with new friends and beloved church family members, and the inspirational message from B. J. gave all of us a wonderful beginning to this special week on our Christian journey.
