Equal Right to Marry in Peril from California Proposition 8
Just over four months ago, the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality…  Same-sex couples were able to be legally married in California, [but] opponents of same sex marriage qualified a measure for the November 4 ballot, Proposition 8.  If passed, Proposition 8 will take away the right to marry from same-sex couples by amending the state’s constitution.

At their annual meetings last spring, both California UCC conferences affirmed the California Supreme Court’s decision and their support for marriage equality… [and] issued a joint statement calling for the defeat of Proposition 8.
