MISSION PROJECT – HYGIENE KITS FOR CHURCH WORLD SERVICE
When UCCs from Southern California gathered on June 11-13 in Santa Ana to sing and worship, learn and explore, laugh and play, we also challenged ourselves to be truly missional servants in the world. Each year, we include a mission collection project as part of the Annual Gathering. This year, we collected items for Church World Service Hygiene Kits.
Church World Service says: In the face of natural disasters, violence, or grinding poverty, Hygiene Kits can mean the difference between sickness and health for struggling families. Prepared kits travel with relief works and ship immediately when natural disasters strike… be it an earthquake in Haiti or an oil spill in Louisiana.
One hand towel measuring approximately 16″ x 28″ (no fingertip or bath towels)
One washcloth
One wide-tooth comb
One nail clipper
One bar of soap (bath size in wrapper)
One toothbrush (in original packaging)
Six standard size Band-Aids®
If you want to assemble your own hygiene kits, place all items in a one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure, remove excess air from bag, and seal. Please do not add toothpaste to the Hygiene Kit. Cartons of toothpaste that have an extended expiration date will be added to Hygiene Kit shipments just prior to shipment. In addition, financial contributions are welcome to “fill in the gaps” and pay for shipping. For financial donations, make your check payable to NCC, designated for “mission kits.”
