Big Sunday Food Drive for the Resource Center
A big “Big Sunday” thank you to all who volunteered for the food drive on May 2 and 3 to support the Laguna Resource Center. Thanks to your efforts, over 20 full shopping carts of food were collected at Albertson’s and Pavilions. We are told that this was enough food to support 50 families for a week.
And more thanks are in order for our entire congregation’s incredibly generous response to the month-long food drive here at NCC, again for the Resource Center.

We are all familiar with the homeless members of our community; they are visible and the issues regarding their place in our city are always before us. But the low-income families are the less visible members of our community. These are the people who clean our homes, care for our children, work in restaurant and hotel kitchens, mow our lawns and live in small apartments with multiple family members. We rarely see them and hardly ever hear from or about them, but the need is great and the numbers of those in need is increasing.
Also, those who never even knew the Resource Center existed are now making use of the services that are offered there, due to job losses. Scripture tells us that there is a time to reap and a time to sow; but there is also a time to give and a time to receive. This is our time to give.
