Transition Laguna - Gardening Day, Help harvest for the Homeless!
Saturday, August 31, 2013 - 9:00am to 12:00pm
Summer is in full-swing right now - that means harvesting the last of the spring crops and getting the garden ready for the late summer and early fall veggies! If you've been eager to get your hands dirty or just feel like helping out, please join the TLB Community this Saturday from 9:00am until 12:00 Noon for our July Install at the Neighborhood Congregational Church. As always, a delicious Potluck will follow the install.
We will be harvesting the buckwheat and peas (which will be used to feed people at the Friendship Shelter) from the spring cover crop and replanting the beds with late-summer veggies. We'll also have a look at the pumpkin and melon patch and lay down straw to help protect the growing fruits. In addition to tending the vegetable beds, we'll also be able to harvest some herbs from the newly planted herb garden and learn how to properly transplant native plants.
As a reminder, please wear close-toed shoes and work clothes suitable for summer - for once, we won't mind if that marine layer decides to hang around!
