10-18-15: When God Speaks from the Whirlwind

Great is God’s power. God stretches the heavens like a tent, sets the earth on firm foundations, and covers the waters of the deep. We long for a taste of this power, unless we get caught in the whirlwind like Job. Job was a faithful follower of God, yet he was not spared calamity. As Christ’s disciples we are invited to drink the cup that Jesus drank, and to be baptized into his suffering and death. Let us not forget that for Christ true power is to hang with thieves, to dine with sinners, and to serve tirelessly. Is it any wonder more people do not flock to churches that truly preach the gospel! Yet, when we can accept the mysteries and paradoxes of faith, God clothes us with the greatest power and glory of all—the power and glory of love. See you Sunday.
Yours on the journey,
Pastor B.J.
