6-1-14: Our Fiery Ordeals

Scripture: 1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11

In 1 Peter 4, we read: “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that is taking place among you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.” And yet, we are always surprised when these ordeals occur. The interesting issue is how we respond to these ordeals? Do we follow Peter’s advice and cast all our anxiety on Christ, or do seek to solve our own problems—inevitably chasing the bouncing ball of discord wherever it leads us?
