Caring Communication Training - No Cost
Sunday, May 22, 2016 - 1:00pm to 4:00pm
SAVE THE DATE, MARK YOUR CALENDAR. On May 22, a Sunday afternoon between 1PM and 4PM, there will be an opportunity for anyone in the church or the town to participate in communication training, which will focus on active listening, being a non-judgmental presence for others, caring but not trying to solve people’s problems, approaching people with the best attitude, and keeping other people’s vulnerabilities strictly confidential. These are five skills that all of us in the church (in any church or family) can practice using in order to be effective and caring communicators with each other.
For Neighborhood Church people, we understand that we are called to be people who show caring for each other as the Golden Rule encourages us to do. For couples and families, these skills are obviously what we would hope to make a regular part of our communication with each other. The Dalai Lama teaches us to devote our lives to practicing kindness. Jesus calls us to love one another actively. Learning and practicing these skills will take us further toward allowing us to accomplish these life goals.
The training will take place in Bridge Hall, opposite the sanctuary, from 1:00 to 4:00 on Sunday afternoon, May 22. The training will be led by local resident Mary McManus, LCSW, and Dr. Geoffry White, Los Angeles and Orange County psychologist. This is an opportunity for all of us.
Please call the office to RSVP.
All are welcome.
