Palm Sunday Service with Reverend Jeff Utter
Sunday, April 9, 2017 - 10:00am to 11:00am
Come join us on Palm Sunday for beautiful music and a variety of guest soloists, readings and an enlightening message. Childcare is available each Sunday from 9:45am to 11:45am. Please stay after service and join us for coffee and fellowship in the courtyard.
The Palm/Passion service will take us on the journey of Jesus’ final days — beginning with the story of his triumphant entry into Jerusalem led by his pilgrims, where they are caught up in the enthusiasm of the disciples. They spread their garments on the street, and pluck palms and olive branches from trees with words of blessings. They proclaim, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming! Hosanna in the highest!” Townsfolk have heard of this Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, but do not know him.
After his final Passover meal with his disciples, after the initial joy, fickleness of heart, the changing of minds, denial and betrayal take center stage. See how the tidings turn to the human trait of falling away when one should be following faithfully. The arrest, trial and crucifixion of Christ results in shock and awe.
Bring your family and friends for this very special reader’s theater that will be filled with music, story and poetry.
