It's easy to become distracted. Martha's many duties made it all too easy for her to forget the marvelous gift of Jesus's presence. In these summer months of rest, the story of Mary and Martha encourages us to remember the need for the Sabbath. The Sabbath comes as a gift, not so much as a time of rest, but rather as a time of reflection and remembrance that God is in our very midst. What a marvelous gift!
